- Jane Wilkinson has just put together the Spring 2010 edition of The
Orchestra Newsletter. Check out Jane's website
here, and download
the latest newsletter
here.
14/03/2010 - Check out the
Concert Reviews pages to read my review of the
Beatles, Blues & Blue Violin concert featuring Mik Kaminski, Phil
Bates and Tina McBain at The Cavern Club, Liverpool on 13th March 2010. I have also uploaded
6 videos to my
Youtube Channel
(videos taken with permission) from the concert - 'Evil
Woman', 'Drive
My Car', 'Last
Time', 'Miks
Violin Solo', 'Come
Together' and 'With
A Little Help From My Friends'.

19/02/2010 - In memory of the
late, great Kelly Groucutt who sadly passed away 1 year ago today, on 19th
February 2009, I have just uploaded to my Youtube channel, a rare tv broadcast
of ELO Part 2 performing 'Don't Bring Me Down' live at Cannon Hill Park in
Birmingham back in May 1996, with Kelly in fine form.
19/02/2010 - Just added three new
videos to the videoclips page. The first features
Lou Clark conducting the Polish Chamber Orchestra performing 'Moment Of
Truth Overture' back in 2000, plus a couple of clips featuring the late, great
Kelly Groucutt who sadly passed away exactly one year ago today. Still
sadly missed by his many friends and fans worldwide but certainly never
forgotten. The first clip features Kelly with The Orchestra
performing 'Xanadu' live in Antafagasto, Chile in 2007 and the second clip
features The Orchestra performing 'Fly Away' at Crewe M Club during the
bands Spring 2009 UK tour.
19/02/2010 - Phil Bates has just
announced a new band he is putting together called Wheels Of Fire. From Phil's
site -
"I want to announce a new project I am putting
together. The band is called 'Wheels of Fire', and is a sort of
tribute to the great gutarists of the 60s/70s - Clapton, Hendrix,
Page, Green, Alvin Lee, with a dash of Gary Moore and anybody else
who takes my fancy. We will also include a few classic tracks like a
re-work of Day Tripper, and While my Guitar Gently Weeps, plus a nod
or two in the direction of Jethro Tull.
Joining me in this venture are keyboardist Mark
Stanway, from Magnum, who has played with almost everyone in the
rock biz, far too long a list to print here, and Clive Bunker, who
was Jethro Tull's original drummer back in the 60s, and whose list
of credits is as long as Mark's. The bass player is yet to be
decided, but it will be someone excellent.
This project will run alongside my other bands -
The Orchestra, Beatles Blues & Blue Violin, ELB, The Phil Bates Band
(Hammond Organ blues trio) - and represents me returning to my
second musical love, the Beatles being my first.
I hope you all come along and support us at our
first trial-run gigs - The Diamond, Sutton-in-Ashfield on May 30th,
and The Robin 2, Bilston on August 5th. After that, we will be
putting together short tours in rock clubs and small theatres etc,
when other commitments allow."

- I can highly recommend the latest project featuring Phil Bates, Mik
Kaminski and Tina McBain. The Beatles, Blues & Blue Violin

E.L.O., blues classics and material from Phil and Mik's solo repertoire. The
project is back on tour in March 2010 with a further tour in September 2010 plus
